Random acts of kindness and how they can be used in a team

Kindness is a virtue , one that can make a person win many hearts than anything ever could. Nelson Mandela is the prime and recent example of that. His ability to be kind even after such a tough life, is amazing, very admirable. So I began a quest of 24 hours (for now) to show some unexpected kindness.

I started calling my elder sister “baji“(a respectful title), I never have, she’s only two years older than me. She found this very unexpected and funny, but then she came to like her newly found respect. Even for me it took guts because it seemed a bit awkward, but I thought this was a good way to show kindness and I do feel like I have started something good. This can be used in a team, by showing respect to both: people at my level and those junior to me, it would create a very nice environment, one where everyone feels respected.

While playing badminton with my cousins, there’s a cousin of mine who says a lot of derogatory remarks, all in good fun, and usually I say something back, but this time I didn’t. I am bad at badminton and she’s even worst at it, yet I didn’t say anything to her and kept listening to all those things patiently. I was very proud of myself! I was proud for not stooping that low, for keeping my dignity by not giving a reply. While working in a team, we might all have a member who we don’t get off well with but still we’d have to work together and ignore anyone’s useless remarks, and I think this is very important for good teamwork.

A 2.5 y/o cousin of mine was annoying everyone, disturbing their game, as a result she was sent inside (we were playing out on the street). She was upset, so I went inside to play ball with her, she was instantly cheered up.

I cleaned the table at my nani’s without anyone asking me to. Doing something that you are not expected to do and yet you do it really shows a team how much of a MVTP you are.

Random acts of kindness can go a long way especially in a team, it can build a team’s spirit, and spread an awe in the team which would lead to a stronger, more unified team.
